Glutino’s Gluten Free Plain Bagels may now be purchased at Alive and Well in Kahului. They are sold frozen, but you may store them in the refrigerator.

Either way, I suggest wrapping them individually in aluminum foil and putting them into a 350F oven or toaster oven before attempting to cut them. They simply will nut cut without this first step.

Since the packaging has no instructions on it I suggest simply figuring out the best method for you and your schedule. You may wish to do the whole bag one day and cut them up so they save you time in the morning. I don’t own a toaster, so I don’t know how they will react in a toaster, but I’d love to hear from you all on this.

I tried contacting the company for information on how to prepare the product, but I have yet to receive a response.

While I’ve missed having a bagel, all of the interesting ingredients make me a bit wary of buying them again as I am trying to eat a more natural diet. Call me a Michael Pollan-ite, but a few of those ingredients aren’t going to be found in the average home cabinet.

So, if you’ve been jonesing for a bagel and schmear, or you’d like to make yourself a bagel sandwich, pick up a bag.

I was sold mine for $4.50 because the store hadn’t priced them yet, but I’m betting I got a pretty good deal. Still, it really is worth it once in a while to treat yourself. Even Pollan says so.
