I don’t deal well with a change in plans, but I’m trying to. The Nerd’s nephew is suddenly staying over, and so I have to change my plans for dinner. I didn’t plan a meal for 4 people, and at 14 years of age the nephew has an appetite of an adult, but I have to make it stretch.
So, I’ll be increasing the amount of spaghetti I cook (hopefully there is enough), and the amount of garlic knots I make. I will also slice the sausages thinner than I would have.
I sent out a request to our friend R. to bring over some salad stuff. Hopefully this is something she is able to do. I’ll have the Nerd pay her back for it. If she can’t, I’ll run down to the drugstore and grab up some things in a little while.
We must accept these things though. We must accept when life throws us curve balls. We must go with the flow as best we can. If I needed to, I would change the meal entirely. I might take the sun dried tomato sausage and mix it into some brown rice with spaghetti sauce. Or, I might make a couple of pizzas with sausage on them instead.
I can make changes. I can go with the flow. I can tell myself these things and hope for the best.
