This month’s Tried and Tasted is being hosted by Kits Chow. The star blog is Hooked on Heat, a beautiful blog with beautiful food. Most of the food has an Indian, or Southeast Asian influence. This is my first time reading Hooked on Heat, and my first time cooking something from her blog.
Her posts not only tell about her food, but they also tell a bit about her life. While being a bit lengthy (as though I can say anything about that), her posts do get to the point, and that point is delicious looking recipes with exotic ingredients.
Because of the rarity of some of her ingredients in my neck of the woods, I decided to go with something rather simple and beautiful.

I chose to cook the Bok Choy in Coconut Milk. It was super easy to cook, very fast, and absolutely delicious.
The only thing I’d change is the way the recipe is written. She doesn’t state that the stems should be separated from the leaves as they will be cooked first, and she doesn’t make clear how long to cook the dish before adding the leaves.
Despite those issues, this is something we will make over and over again. I think with the addition of salmon, this would be something served in a nice restaurant. It’s also a nice, simple vegetarian option as well.
The Nerd called it a 4 out of 5, but said that it’s a different kind of 4 out of 5 stars. He said that it’s not a comfort food 4 like the Portuguese Green and Purple Soup, but that it’s a spicy curry food kind of 4. Good to know.
I’ll be looking at more Hooked on Heat recipes for the future, and I hope she’ll receive some more visitors based on this review.
